brake icing up

ok so on my 92 f150, 4.9 e40d and 2wd, i have a problem that i have never had with any other vehicle before, after i drive in some deep snow, ( like today with 8 inches on the ground and the roads unplowed, where i was the first one down the road so in other words no ruts to follow either) if i let it sit for awhile the brakes will be frozen. if it is even a little bit slippery out i now have a challenge on my hands as the back wheels will spin before they get enough force to pop the front brakes loose. to clarify this is happening on the front brakes, the rear drums have never iced up before. if i give it a good jab of the throttle the ice breaks free and i will have no problems again until i drive through some deep snow again and it sits long enough for what i presume to be melting snow to re freeze. again i have not had this problem on any other vehicle i have driven or have owned, including the 94 f150 4wd plow truck that i have right now.

just wondering what i should start to look for or if anyone else has had this problem.

Not sure why your truck would be worse than anything else. But I do know that its a good idea to ride the brakes a bit before you park in cold weather. That will dry out any moisture on the rotors and prevent freezing. I do this in the winter time on my semi truck. It sucks when you have to beat on all 8 brakes when they froze up!

Crawl under and take a look at your deflector plates, they keep the majority of snow, mud and stones from getting up against your rotors, they maybe rusted out, the snow gets jammed between the rotor and pads then it melts and freezes when you park.

Mine were rusted on my 95 F250 and I just cut mine off....big mistake, found out real quick about the water and snow freezing.

They are intact, they seem to be the problem, there is too narrow a gap and the ice freezes in between the rotor and the guard

It rained here for 4 days straight and then froze real good last night and today mine were stuck too. I thought my parking brake was on but nope. Just had to give it a little goose and it broke loose. Weird. Never happened before today. My drivers side lock was frozen too
