Drivers like this buffoon really scare the hell out of me but the thing that scares me nearly as much is the ultra cheap owner who neglects to properly maintain the tractor / trailer in the first place.

Obviously that wasn't the case here. Just stupid.

Had a guy stop in front of the shop in Kent one day, he forgot to put his gear up. It was quite loud, and the terminal was a couple miles away.
From what I saw around there, the primary requirement for driving seemed to be ability to have a green card. Especially the guy who took out the "no semis" sign across the way, complete with a pic of a semi with a line across it.

After several unsuccessful attempts to turn around she decided to continue down South Gospel Street.
Probably seemed like a good idea at the time.

I used to work in a truck repair shop 30 years ago and even back then a lot of the truck drivers had a hard time backing into the shop.

Want to stump someone, ask them "which ton" cause there are different tons.

Long ton : 2,240 lbs
Short ton : 2,000 lbs
tonne : 2,204.623 lbs
ton shortweight : 2,240 lbs
ton longweigt : 2,400 lbs

The last two are from 17th and 18th century. But I know Ive had lots say "huh" when I ask them which ton. People think theres only one ton weight measurement.

You could answer that in different ways. Isn't Grant's wife buried in Grant's tomb, too after all? (Wait, nobody is buried there. Grant and his wife are interred in sarcophagi, not buried.)

Gold and precious metals are measured by troy ounces, a little heavier than avoirdupois ounces, so a "ton of gold" would (technically) weigh more than a ton of feathers measured avoirdupois. Kind of a trick question.

That's the nice thing about standards, there's so many to choose from!

actually it is reversed. troy is 12 ounces to a pound, avoirdupois is 16 ounces to a pound. so a pound of feathers weighs more than a pound of gold.
but it is still a trick question.
because a ton of gold is 2450 troy pounds.
a ton of feathers is 2000 avoirdupois pounds, which makes the gold heavier than the feathers by the pound.
now for the fun part. a ton of gold is 29,400 ounces.
a ton of feathers is 32,000 ounces.
so in ounces, a ton of feathers weighs more than a ton of gold.

but if they are measured by the metric ton, they weigh the same, 2205 lbs, or 1,000 kilograms.

LOL! No, a ton of gold is 32,150 (Troy) ounces? Good problem to have, I guess, you keep the feathers though.
