How do you change the light bulb? Can I replace it with a LED with different color?
I want to change all the instrument cluster lights to leds.. but that will be later..
Thanks
I never dug into mine although the need for more light there is certainly true. I think the letters are part of a clear plastic block that directs light from a single bulb. The cover around the steering column unsnaps to get access.
I added a tach with LED lighting. The dimmer doesn't work well with it and the lighting was like having a searchlight in the driver's eyes, I had to unhook the LED and never got back to figuring out the dimmer business.
I think I may have found the information doing a internet search. I'll let you know when I try it... info says to remove the plastic cover under the steering column and then loosen two screws holding a plastic cover that fits over the column. once that is done the plastic cover will slid down towards the underneath of the dash and I should see a bulb socket..
Right now though, I have a bigger problem.. It rained for several days and the cloth door panel on the drivers door is wet at the bottom. The door gaskets look good and appear to have been changed once upon a time because I can see the old glue. BUT the outer window sweeps are cracked.

The drain holes are clogged at the bottom edge of the door. My driver's door would pour water when opened after a rain. Also, in the lower hinge area of the driver's door is the water drain for the cowl. That fills with leaves and clogs resulting in standing water in the body channel.
You can remove the wiper arms and the sheet metal screws holding the cowl and hose it all out. I put screen wire under the cowl vent before replacing the cowl to keep the leaves out. Those same leaves will be pulled into the blower motor, shredded and packed into the outside air intake for the HVAC. It isn't noticeable until you select outside air, then the air flow from the vents decreases. It causes a high current load on the blower motor, the primary cause of burning out the fan switch resistors.
