MERRY CHRISTMAS FELLOW FTE'ers
now on to my question
This morning I removed my trucks jack I wanted to make sure it was still good (dad never needed to use it ), took it to the work bench and sure enough ...it was not behaving like it should ( took more then a couple of minutes to get it to fully extend ) once I got it to extend all the way out i wire wheeled the two inner shafts to clean rust, dust etc off of it... does somebody have any suggestions as to what kind of lube to use on my bottle jack?
Thank you
I'd suggest start with WD40 while you are getting it freed up. It is light and will displace any moisture that is in there. Then wipe it of as best possible and use a little motor oil to keep it happy.
Thank You Blue and White,
I took your advice used WD-40 then poured a small amount of oil while extending and retracting
works better now
Thank you again

Better tie a shop rag around the neck for a while, cause when you mount it laying down all the oil and WD will run out and all over your inner fenderwell.
Rich.
yupp thought of that, I stood it upside down on the ol' work bench in one of the ol' ladys china bowls
shhhh don't tell her
but i did line it with a couple of really greasy old rags first
