My truck is now parked for the winter. I hope to get a lot done in the next couple of months.

Ok, this isn't exactly what you would call a masterpiece of fabrication but any progress is still progress. I sent away for this surface mount 10 LED lite assembly with the intent of using it for a back up lite, but didn't like how it looked. So I wired it up on a toggle switch as an emergency under hood lamp. Hey it's beats a poke in the eye with a sharp stick right? Any way I ordered a set of flush mount ones for the back up lights, that I can set in the roll pan using rubber mounting grommets, and activated with a new neutral safety/ backup switch. They should be here shortly. Any hoo, I've got the tailgate, to paint, along with new SS supports and latches to go on it. It seems as if the more I learn, the more there is to do, or in my case re-do LOL.

I'm sure hoping to make some progress this year. I fiddled around last year and didn't get much done and rarely played with the truck at all. I have some big plans for 2016.
I think to get them done I'm going to have to sit down and make a list and set some goals.

Thanks for the kick in the pants
Bobby

Nice work on your light Jim.

I finally got my exhaust catcher installed this morning.

Ok, technically, it's a bumper. I can't decide whether I need to raise it, or if I should have the exhaust bent down and away from it.

Bumper looks nice. Would turn downs work?

I'd move it up but I don't like the bumper that low to begin with. I'd tuck it in a bit too. Nothing wrong with the way it looks now. It's just personal taste.

The triangle brace on the side of the box , is something I have found on a couple of trucks . Was this a trick to keep the box ridged when the tailgate is down and was it a popular mod on these trucks ?

I think so. I believe that's the route I'm going to take with them.

I've see a few trucks with that done. I really don't know the purpose. I'd like to remove them from mine, but I don't have a good way to do that right now.

My truck had the brace added to it at some point when my Grandfather owned it. I think it was used to stiffen up the bedsides after the flange on the bedside rusted away. I don't think it was ever a popular mod, just done out of necessity.

Here is my truck before I got it painted and had another bed put on.

Bumpers that wrapped around to the lower bolted support on the rear fenders, with a brace from the bumper up to the top of the box were pretty common from what I've seen. The boxes were weak with the tailgate down.
