Got a floor pan for the passenger side of my truck for Xmas purchased from a local shop in Phoenix Arizona(SoCal speed shop if you live here) and it says it fits 67-79 but the thing seems bigger than what is on lmc and other sites. It's like it goes all the way up to the firewall. Anyone seen one like it? I'll post a pic in the boring as its 11pm here right now. Appreciate the help gentlemen. Merry Christmas!
Cut out the bad area in your floor then set new floor pan in place and trace out from the bottom side. Cut new pan just a little bigger than your trace line then fine tune it to fit your cut-out and tack weld away.
Not too hard. Practice with your scraps first. Need to move around to prevent warping. Tack weld in one spot then move a few inches away to let previous weld cool. Just keep moving around till all seams are done. Grind them flush with metal pan. I put seam sealer on both sides of weld then painted inside and rust proofing on underside of cab.
I have a long (lot longer than I wanted) build thread going on here. In it I've replaced the floor pans in the Pumpkin.
Don't know if it'll help you much but here is a link to the post in the thread where I start replacing the floor pans.
Like hickory said, it's really not too bad once you get into it. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/8...l#post12822032
Also, when it comes to tack welding, you're in luck. These are floor pans, something not many people, if any, will ever see. If things get a little overheated and warp, no one will notice.
Good luck, and have fun.
