It'll depend on options too. 4WD is heavier than 2WD, big blocks and diesels are (progressively) heavier, a dually is heavier.
Franklin's 6,000 isn't a bad starting guess though. For reference, my '97 F-250 crewcab weighs 6,600 lbs with me in it and a fiberglass topper. Subtract me and the topper and it's about 6,100 lbs. My truck is a short bed, so an F-350 crew (which were all long bed) would be a little heavier. Mine is a big block, 4WD, so add or subtract based on what your truck has. And although I don't know for sure, I'd guess the '97 is a little heavier than an '83, all else being equal.
