i REALLY need to get back on my 56!

As the title line says... I really need to find my motivation and get back on my poor 56... I haven't even touched it in about a year and a half..
I was making pretty decent progress ....making my own bed vice buying a prefabbed kit.... made a really bad weld one day on the tailgate and chucked it in the corner and haven't touched it since.
There is no doubt that I WILL finish it.....I just need to find my motivation..
I'm a little ashamed of myself but I have had a few other distractions in my life and right now it doesn't seem like I can find the time..
Anyway... I WILL get her done...

Sometimes we all set the bar a bit too high and the journey becomes more of a maze than a "yellow brick road". I find that when I hang out with my truck buddies and ride around in their trucks I get motivated to finish mine. Semper Fi!

I ran into an old friend the other day. He asked about my 56. I said that this was looking like the winter when I could get started on the frame. He replied that's what you said the last time I saw you three years ago.
Maybe we should start a support group.

Don! You Da Man. Get your a$$ of the couch an in the shop, and Git-r-Done. How's that for a condensed motivational speech? When I work on my 56, I find when a problem arises, is to walk away and work on something else. Everything is repairable. Win this one for the Gipper! Good luck, and Merry Christmas.

I guess we could start a club. I started working on my truck in 1987 and here I am 25+ years later still working on it. It's even been nick named the "Back Burner Special". It's easy to get distracted with other hobbies, taking care of old folks, and "honey do" lists. Of course there's always that vehicle being dragged into the garage that you didn't plan on buying but couldn't pass up for that price.

Keep plugging away at it. Only way to eat an elephant is a bite at a time.

Lou Holtz (former head coach at Notre Dame) said that you should make a decision once a year and stick to it..."quitting is a permanent solution to a temporary problem".

This is something I can really relate to .
I pulled my 56 down in 2011 for what was to be a quick rebuild .
I managed to get the eng and trans rebuilt , chassis blasted and painted and all suspension and brakes rebuilt .
I also got the rust in the cab all but done , and that's where I'm up to , and it's sat there like that for about 3 years .
In the meantime I've done 2 full rebuilds on mates cars ,and countless repairs and resprays on other cars .
I'm at the stage now where i'm kinda over bodywork and can't be bothered doing my own .
I know i'll get it done one day , I just need a big boot in the backside to get me started .
