6.4 Starter

Hi guys, haven't posted in a while, but I'm always watching. I needed to replace the starter on my truck. I installed a 6.4 Powerstroke Oreilly Ultima starter part# 03-3815. It worked great, I don't think the engine has ever turned over that fast. The replacement wasn't that bad either. I would definitely recommend.

Merry Christmas All!

Merry Christmas to you and yours BobbyB. I have been wondering how the flex plate on the 6.0 compares to the 6.4 and would there be any negative effects to the 6.0 flexplate?

Should I write this down in my 6.0 book of mods?

I would lol. It's not one of the must do things but it sure is nice to bump my starter and start up in a second or two. It's totally different then my stock 6.0 starter.

Yea that's it alright. I used to wait for 3-5 seconds of cranking before the HPO got up enough to light off the FICM. Not with a 6.4 starter, I like your truck Mike good looking rig.

Is this a plug and play with the 6.4 starter?

Yes it is a simple install goes right in. The rpm is much higher then the 6.0 starter.
Not sure of the exact specs but it's quite the improvement. I bought mine off of eBay.
Just make sure you get a motorcraft and not some imported model if you go to eBay.

You can go to local Auto Zone or Napa of coarse.
