Random questions about 2017 Super Duty, in no particular order. There may or may not be answers yet, but I am torn on whether to order a 2016 or wait for 2017. The answer to these questions may help decide.
Will the F350 with the 6.2L have the same transmission as the diesel? I see the F250 gas motor will get a smaller trans, but will the F350 gas retain the big trans?
Will the XL configuration be the same, i.e. vinyl seats, rubber floors, manual everything, etc?
What options will be available in the XL?
Will the lane monitoring thing that shakes the wheel be able to be turned off?
Will the 6.2L have the same rear end ratios as the 2016?
Will the 6.2L have the same power specs as the Raptor 6.2L motor (411 hp and 434 lb·ft)?
Will the diesel get a 9th injector to cure the engine shudder/vibration issue that some are having during regen?
How does adaptive steering work? Will all trim levels have it?

I said I'd rather have the current SD but the more I look at the '17s the more I like them. With that I will never buy a first model year truck again after some past troubles.
If you trade every few years get the '16 and then trade it for a '18 or '19. There is talk on the 2015 F150 forum about a turbo charged 5.0 rated for up to 700hp that Ford has developed and it wouldn't surprise me if it found it's way to the SD. The guy that works at the plant that made the prototype says it will probably be '18 at the earliest that the engine will hit production.

The motors are said to be same as the 2016 year. I could only assume Ford will keep the XL base package with manual and vinyl features w/options to upgrade in the "XL" pkg(thats what I usually do), along with same gear ratio. Heard/read only F250 gas getting the new tranny to start.(eco next...?)
I figured most questions were too early to tell, but thought I'd try anyway. I'm seriously considering the 2017 as the current SD looks just never grew on me. It would be breaking my rule about first year in a new design, but there are some pretty good upgrades for 2017 and i like the way they look a lot better.

Most of the answers are "yes" or close enough to current that it won't make a difference. I don't know about the extra injector, but I would guess no. If I were to order a diesel I would simply get the manual regen control option, not sure why it isn't more popular. But I don't do much highway driving with my trucks.
I hadn't seen they adaptive steering is going to be offered on the super duty, but I haven't looked at all the press too closely. What it does is change the steering ratio based on the vehicle speed. This is typically going to be in conjunction with an electronic steering box. I would guess (based on a mix of what I think would be engineering as well as how they've optioned it on the F150) that it would not be compatible with snow plow prep, therefore it would be more likely on the "pretty" trucks. I could be wrong, engineers and those who pretended to be them or know anything about it once said we could fly too.

Looks like those pesky engineers crammed the thing into the steering wheel alone, so perhaps it can be on big trucks that plow.
