What would I have to do to take my 86 250 diesel long bed to make it into a flareside? I know i'll have to shorten the frame but what else needs done? I had a 86 150 flareside and it got totaled and I can't find any so I figure i'll build one
Besides shorting of the frame a bed to bolt on.
Now if you want to get real crazy why not make a long bed flare side?
You would need to start off with 2 FS beds to make a long bed and then bolt the fenders on.
Metal strips inside bed may be hard to make but the wood I don't think would be.

I'm liking this idea ! Done right with a fifth wheel spare mount, (left side in front of the fender of course), would look very cool! Use aluminum or stainless threshold strips for the bed floor separators and the wood is open to interpretation. Chain the gate and bolt up a set of 50's Ford script taillights with bluedots...Nice ! I was moving towards a flatbed but now.....can you smell the wood burning ?

Easier path would be to start with just one dually bed and narrow it. Of course the bed style would be different, depends on taste I guess.
I'm liking the idea of a long bed flare/fenderside....like the '60's IHC trucks. It might be harder to pull off but the end result is never easy, but worth it.
