Hello, just looking for an opinion for the best course of action.I have a new to me 84 F150 4x4.The short of the long is, mt bolt on the top steering box was loose. What followed was box removal to find a cracked frame.Well the frame is now fixed ,but the boss on the top of the box is stripped,Without buying a new box I can drill out hole and thread to 1/2x13 bolt, drill threw hole and grind a little on the backside of the boss and install a new longer bolt with a nut for the 7/16 bolt.Opinions.

I guess that would work but I would worry that with the larger hole for the bolt to pass thru it would make the mounting ear weaker.
Other than that I think I would do it and keep an eye on it for a bit.
I had an 76 E350 van w/460 & C6 the bolts snapped when turning in to a buds driveway. I was lucky it happened then and not when pulling my 32' trailer down the road!
