This is my neighbors truck, he just had double knee replacement and is trying to get his truck dialed in. he bought and had a pro charger super charger installed. I think it has just over 100k. he bought the truck maybe 6 months before the upgrade. He's a old school muscle car guy and thought the upgrade would be cool to help your his rv trailer.
So here goes explanation. His son (who builds muscle cars professionally) installed the super charger witch as I understand it's designed for the mustang 4.6, not sure what all is different other crank and cam's, but after install he got s job offer he couldn't refuse and left state. My neighbor can't get his truck to pass deq. It fails by running to rich. We had it dyno'ed down the street and they said it gets rich and instead of the computer leaning it out it gets richer. We put new 02 sensors all around and all I can think of is vacuum leak although it runs great especially at idle.
Any suggestions appreciated
What kind of fuel system is he using, fuel pump, fpr, injectors, even maf?
It has the oem maf and Fpr. The kit came with high pressure fuel pump, he has gone back and forth between the original and the aftermarket, it runs the same. Stock injectors. The kit also came with a fmu that makes things worse, as far as rich, so it is not installed
I would first start by finding a new tuner. If they can't figure out why you run rich I wouldn't trust them. Second I would upgrade the fpr, maf, fuel pump and injectors. All have to be about maxed out.
In Portland if he's still looking there's a ton of tuning shops. On airport way there's like 3. Pre, fast specialty, maybe corksport they have a dyno English racing. VIP.
That sucks. I was looking forward to the results but at the end of the day the new truck will do everything he was trying to do and more so smart move overall
