Scale weight - can it possibly be right???

So I have a 1951 Ford 8N tractor with a bucket loader on it. I'm not sure how much it weighs, so I had it on the trailer today and decided to stop at a local truck stop with certified CAT scales and get myself weighed. I have never used the scale before, but it's not rocket science. But I'm not sure if I am reading the ticket right, and if I am, then there is no way it can be correct - at least I don't think so.

So I have a 2016 F350 XL 4x4 SRW Long Bed. The Ford specs for my truck says 7,720 lbs Curb Weight. Here is what the certified scales said:

Steer Axle === 5,000 lbs
Drive Axle === 6,340 lbs
Trailer Axle == 3,060 lbs
Gross Weight = 14,400 lbs

How can that possibly be accurate???

I don't see a problem assuming a 5th or goose trailer and the tractor loaded too far forward.

Yeah, it would appear you need to maybe turn the tractor around to put more on the trailer perhaps, or moved to center of axle.

Your weights are in line with reality.

Curb wt vs actual are much different.

Unloaded your rear is probably about 3100 lbs.

Not really enough info to go on, steer seems high and trailer light but that could be loading, the pin too far forward, crew cab diesel, etc. As Senix said these truck are heavier then the manufacture lets on, my crew 4wd diesel has about 4000 on the front axle empty.

I'd say you pulled on the scales wrong and weighed the trailer front axle with the trucks rear axle combining the two together. Take 3000 lb off the drive axle weight and add it to the trailer, that will give you a truer weight as I don't believe you can load the tractor far enough forward to only have 3060 lb on the trailer.

Bingo! I went back again yesterday and made sure I was on the scales correctly this time. The first time it was operator error and I had pulled too far forward. Here are my numbers from yesterday...

Steer Axle === 4,620 lbs
Drive Axle === 3,520 lbs
Trailer Axle == 5,640 lbs
Gross Weight = 13,780 lbs

The only difference besides getting lined up correctly is that I was outside the truck to push the button, so 250 less for that.

Thanks for all the info!

Now it would appear that your front is a bit heavy.

Are you using a wt distribution hitch?

Why does it seem bad now? It's lighter than before? I have a regular hitch except one that has a scale built in. The hitch scale reads a little over 500. Here's a pic of the tractor and trailer as it was weighed, except it's not attached to the truck.

If that's a pic of it and it's a crew cab it'll have a good amount of frontend weight, if it's diesel and or 4x4 the weight keeps adding up.
Your truck with 500lb tongue weight is 1100lb lighter than my F-450 is empty with no trailer (9280lb empty truck, full tank of fuel, no driver).

Run the empty truck across the scales that way you'll know how the weight is transfering next time.

I checked for the scale weight pics but don't have them. 4600 on the front axle with the 6.7 is pretty close. Weighed my buddies 2011 dually before I bought mine and I'm near positive the dually front axle came in 46-4800. I'd call what your doing good, mark the trailer so you can easily put the tractor in the same spot next time. A hair more on the pin wouldn't hurt, but long as it tows ok not a big deal.
