Yeah, the NOS was just my description. The best part is that it's the same color as my interior, just wasn't too sure about the price. However, I see where LMC sells theirs for $400 and think I've read from folks that they're not that good?
i've read all kinds of opinions, I don't remember the specifics and don't have any personal experience.
To my knowledge, there is a company out there now making replacement dash pads using Ford tooling, but it's being sold by two different firms... I think one is offering a choice of two colors (black or white) but I'm not positive... do some homework here.
But physically look at this CL thing - don't try to press on it with your thumb to see if the foam makes it spring back as there's a good chance you'll punch a hole in it - it is 30+ years old and therefore FRAGILE... this is one of the advantages of getting one that's "new."
Also, investigate the foam underneath by the speaker panel - does it turn to dust when you touch it?
Theres also another place I cant think of that I found the same pad for $425. But in either case I personally would go new and just dye/paint it. New door panels you get from LMC or even NPD are painted.
Wow. Seriously? Where is the blowing milk out my nostrils emoji?
Yea no kidding!!! I could maybe see that for a nice non cracked one. If you look hard enough you might get lucky and find one in the junkyard. I was one of the lucky ones!
I have been lucky 2 and 1/2 times over the last ~5 years of visiting junkyards.
First one was a perfect black one out of an F800? Probably 90's vintage and stored out of the sunlight. Foam was a little crumbly under speaker hole but that's it. I gave this one to Romel77 since he was shipping his truck to Czech Republic and this was his only chance to get a good one.
Second find was blue, intact except for part of the speaker grille. Good candidate for Ron's dash patch. I consider this the 1/2...
Finally this year I found another "perfect" one for my build in tan. I will have to paint it but I would anyway. It has crumbly foam also, and Velcro glued to it to hold down the dash mat... Which is why it isn't cracked. That and it was a business plow bronco, so it was only used seasonally. Good ones are still out there but are ~very few and far between.
Thanks for all of the input, but I think I'm going to pass on this one. Mine is perfect except for a small tear at the speaker.
So if anyone else is interested in the pad, feel free to contact him.
