Oil pump pickup height

Y'all have been a tremendous help so far and have taught me tons. I'm about to set a rebuilt engine and I don't know how to set the height of the oil pump pick up to ensure proper oil flow from the bottom of the pan. Anyone know how to do this?

I guess I didn't ask that correctly. How far off the bottom of the pan should the pickup be?

Are you changing pans? If not, you shouldn't have to change anything. The pickup should go right back where it was - just off the bottom of the pan.

Only by bending things, like the pipe and bracket.

Agreed....if you can see the screen through the drain hole, about 5/16" - 3/8" off the pan bottom, you're gold. Don't forget that the little washer dealie on one end of the hexagonal pump drive goes toward the top of the engine.
