I'm trying to take my dash off of my 1996 ford f250. I popped the gauges, trim, glove box, radio, and a/c panels out. where are all the bolts to take the rest of the dash off?
all that stuff can stay on. IIRC there are 4 or 5 hex screws along the windshield, 2 maybe 3 more under the dash that screw into metal brackets going to the fire wall. I find it easiest to leave the steering column attached. Just unhook the ujoint under the dash, 1 bolt, and it should slide out. the bolt has to be all the way out though, don't forget the shifter cable if it is an auto, just pop it off the bracket on the column. pull the ebrake pedal off, 3 bolts, fold it down. Then I believe there is 3 more bolts holding that big aluminum bracket to the truck, that the parking brake was attached to. there are a few plugs in the driver side too. I think the ones that go to the firewall have to be unhooked, then some near the pedal assembly, attached to that big aluminum bracket with those little plastic clips. That should be it. I might have forgotten a few things, it has been a while. once you can pull the dash back, you can unhook the heat control cable from the hvac stuff in the fire wall. just 1 screw. I think there is 2 hvac vacuum hoses too. oh, and radio antenna wire. I would get all the plugs, shifter cable, steering shaft disconnected first. and leave a screw or 2 in at the windshield for last. Can I ask why you are pulling the dash?
There is a plug for cab lights behind the passenger side kick panel. It is a small two wire plug, brown in color. All these trucks have that plug for the cab lights.
I found this last night as i was looking for something on my computer. I think it shows where the dash is screwed.
Hi fellas, I have an 83 cabin and wondering if there is there a thread that shows how to upgrade to 96 dash and instruments? Any tips or tricks or advice? Thanks
