So to begin I have a 1990 F350 cclb srw with the 460 and the E4OD. I just made my maiden voyage from Yuma az. To fort worth tx. And when I started I was getting relatively decent millage as in front tank 170 miles rear at 140 by mid trip it was only 150 front and 110 rear. Then started getting check engine light while running front tank only. All the while I've only been doing 65 mph, so now the trans starts to act up I can't accelerate above 3000 tons with out it kicking down and when it does kick I immediately loose speed I can shift manually threw the gears and they pull hard but even still will not rev past 3000. If I start to climb a hill it will drop speed significantly. And will not shift down unless manually dropping the gears. Has anyone else had this issue and what was the fix?
Run the Key On Engine Off (KOEO) tests and stored (Continuous Memory) code display. List the codes by number and during which test they appeared. You may get two or three digit codes. There will not be a mix of two and three, just one or the other.
Did a koeo test last night and got way to many codes so the most notable with the trans was code: 94 converter clutch solenoid circuit faliure. The fuel issue got tracked down to previous owner hot wired the rear pump to constantly run which was throwing code 95 and 96. Everything else was probably in conjunction with those two.
Ok so ran the truck to work and back to day, felt a little better not much but still noticeable. So ran the test again got mostly same codes but now the trans code isn't there.
KOEO
95- Fuel pump secondary circuit failure. The EEC senses infinite resistance to the ground from the fuel pump on the pump monitor circuit. (most likely due to fuel pump being hot wired)
CM
18- IDM circuit failure or spout circuit grounded.
33- EGR valve opening not detected (Its not connected)
41- HEGO sensor circuit indicates system lean Right side
95- Fuel pump secondary circuit failure. The EEC senses infinite resistance to the ground from the fuel pump on the pump monitor circuit.
96- Fuel pump secondary circuit failure. The EEC did not sense battery voltage on the fuel pump monitor circuit.
KOER
41- no HEGO switching detected always lean right side.
18- spout circuit open or spark angle word failure.
33- EGR valve opening not detected.
77- system failed to recognize brief wot during dynamic response test.
74- brake on off switch not actuated during KOER test.
55- key power input to processor is open.
So now my questions are what is a spout? What is a HEGO sensor? As well how do I fix these. I'm assuming this could be my main issues, as the egr is not connected, and that the fuel pump is hot wired which hopefully will be fixed tomorrow if the wife allows me some free time.
Well today I un-did what was done to the fuel pumps, and now it runs much better still will not rev past 3000 not sure why. There was a green wire with a yellow stripe that was hacked and connected to a black with white stripe. I have a few of the same code but also a couple new ones. So listed are my KOEO CM and KOER.
KOEO
95- Fuel pump secondary circuit failure the EEC senses infinite resistance to the ground from the fuel pump on the pump monitor circuit.
CM
15- EEC battery powered keep alive memory test failed.
KOER
41- no HEGO switching detected always lean.(right side)
18- spout circuit open or spark angle word failure.
33- EGR valve opening not detected.
77- system failed to recognize brief wot during dynamic response test.(user error)
74- brake on/off switch not actuated during KOER.(user error)
65- overdrive off switch was not cycled during KOER test.(user error)
So for the user error tests how do I know when to do the brake wot and overdrive?
Would the code 41 not allow me to rev past the 3000?
What is the code 18 telling me to fix?
The EGR I could care less for but if it will help I will find a way to fix it.
What am I supposed to be doing for the code 95? I figured fixing the wires would have helped but it only solved half of the issue.
