Fuel tanks backwards

Hi guys i have a 96 f250 CCSB with a 7.3 and out of the blue my fuel guages switch themselves this morning. my rear tank was nearly full last night now its showing 1/4 which is where the front tank was last night. the front tank shows nearly full now!!!! Its as if the switch turned itself around. i cant find anything on this. any ideas?

Transfer valve is messed up and pumped return line into wrong tank emptying one and filling the other? It happens. If you leave it running do the gauges continue to change?
