Hi all! I'm looking into rebuilding my '97 E40D transmission, and I'm in need of some input on a good (better than stock) rebuild kit. I'm looking pretty seriously at the kits and converters offered by Racer X USA, and everything I read online seems to lead me back to them. I know that ATS also sells kits, and I have found some other sites that sell them, but I'd appreciate some input on what you guys think would be my best choice. Oh, and the truck has a cold air intake and a TS 6 position chip, and that's as far as I plan on going with engine mods, in case that plays a role... Thanks!

 

Nothing wrong with racer x parts. I run their valve body and triple disc billet converter in my truck. I'd say you are making a good choice if you go that route.

 

I have the same questions. I think John Wood sells a few parts but I don't think he sells any sort of comprehensive rebuild kits. It might be worthwhile contacting him to see if he does sell kits, and if not, what he might recommend. Some of these guys are very proprietary about the parts they use and I can't blame them, it's taken them a long time to figure it out and it's their livelihood.

I don't know anything about Racer X, except their website is full of way to much hype. But that doesn't mean their parts aren't good.
