2016 orders/ delivery dates

Hey all,

I just placed an order for 2016 screw fx4 lariat with the sport package. Got a call from my dealer saying that any "package order" sport, special edition etc was slated for a "late" delivery. The sales manager stated that when ford sends back an email stating this, his experience for a "late" delivery was typically June. Any ideas if this is true? Anyone heard the same?

Thx
Tony

2016 delivery date

Hey all, I just placed an order for a 2016 screw fx4 lariat with the sport package. About a week later my dealer called and told me he that he received an email from ford stating that any trucks ordered with a "package" sport , special edition etc would be a "late arrival". He then said that typically when this happens he would expect delivery of these "late arrival " vehicles in June. Any truth to this? I find this hard to believe!

thanks

Did you order the special edition Lariat? Production for that starts February. The Lariat Sports at slated for beginning of January.

So, conceivably you're looking at June delivery of the Special Edition and April for the Lariat Sport.

According to Donlen the production is 14-16 weeks including delivery.

Hey Josh,
Thanks for the reply. I ordered the lariat sport. NOT the special edition. So I guess I'm looking somewhere around April . It's my first time ordering a truck. Just seemed to be a bit odd. I appreciate the help.

I ordered a 2016 Lariat right before Thanksgiving. I am expecting February/March delivery.

I am waiting on a 2016 Lariat sport also. Production starts on J2 1/4. If by some chance mine gets scheduled for first or second week of Jan, may be early Feb delivery time... but I am guessing there are a bunch of dealer Sport orders already pending for the last couple months... so could be into march I guess also.

I ordered a Lariat Sport at the beginning of September. Would mine get built earlier than someone that ordered in October, or is there no particular order in which they get built?

You'll be near the front of the line. It also depends if your dealer put the order in as dealer stock or customer ordered. Dealer stock has priority.

Those putting in orders now for the SE or Sport are dead last after dealer stock and all previous customer ordered trucks.

I know the dealer sets priority from 80 (lowest) to 10 (highest)... and I think that is only relative to orders from that same dealer... but across all dealers/orders, does stock vs customer order get different priority also? And how about between dealers... based on sales volume?

My understanding is customer ordered vehicles are 10-19, 20+ is stock orders.

But it is also my understanding that stock ordered vehicles are built sooner/ quicker than custom ordered. Maybe Frantz could enlighten us on that process.

I custom ordered my 1999 F350 when it was announced, I didn't have much insight in the process until one day several months later the dealer called and said it was shipped and then another call saying they had received it, which was February 1998.

I would tend to think higher volume dealers will have priority over small town dealers.

Allocation is what will determine priority. Others spoke here and are correct that where you got your priority code will only affect within that dealerships builds. Allocation is how many trucks go to each dealership. Ford has the welcome problem of their trucks being more popular than supply, leading to the long turn around. I'd be curious if anyone with more production experience could shed light on the production side of things in regards to order delays. I order more SuperDuties than F150s so I know there we still have the axle shortages. Not sure what all is holding retail F150s up currently. Generally Fords order wait times seem to be creeping upwards. I've haven't been around long enough to speak to the long term trends of this though.

To the OP, My guess is the sales manager is trying to make sure he doesn't over promise. but 16 weeks is 4 months, and things can happen that turn it to 6! The good news is they should be offering you the future rebates whenever the truck comes in. I've said before, I had a customer go from $500 rebate to $4750 because of increased rebates and Ford sending him a coupon by the time his car came in.

Looks like it. The fleet order still shows 10-12 weeks. That means once the order is picked up in Fords system you should have it within 10-12 weeks, so it may well end up being 14. Still a wait, but not as long as some folks. And its the truck you want with better rebates. If you're not in a rush, I love the order concept as a consumer.
