Tailgate reflector

What has everyone done to replace the tailgate reflector once it's cracked and fallen off? Give me some ideas. Thanks.

Can either buy new from LMC (may be available from other places) or look at the junkyard

Tossing around a few ideas. Flat steel. Black Diamond plate. Carbon fiber vinyl wrap? Something cheap.

All good ideas. If you have something to wrap, you can also paint.

Just the black plastic part fell off, then got ran over. I shed a tear because I know how expensive they are. The aluminum peice is still on the tailgate. Full of holes. Kinda hard to explain unless you have seen it under the plastic.

The reflector in the stainless panel

OP: You didn't specify that you didn't want the OEM look.

Replacements can be had. A ruined panel with a solid reflector would not be expensive, although it may require some effort to find. All you need is the reflector and adhesive.

That said I would think you could do some nice custom replacements. I have seen the whole panel replaced with diamond plate. Not sure that I liked it but it was different.

I was thinking of using some flat black vinyl material. I thought maybe I could get it at a sign shop or sticker shop. I have the piece that came off. Anybody have a recommendation for an adhesive?

How about a piece of plexiglass, cut to fit then wrapped or painted. You can attach it from the back with screws. Someone hit mine and cracked it a few years ago. I filled the crack with spot putty and painted it with hammer tone paint. I like it. Pic's are in my gallery.

Some type of diamond plate would look good. Maybe buy one that's for the tailgate when it's down and cut to fit. May be cheaper options but that would look tough. Or maybe too much. Just a thought
