Hi there everybody. I am new and I have a question on my 78. My pickup is a 1978 f250 4x4 standard cab, part time 4x4 with an automatic. I am removing my gear vendor unit form the back of my 205. I would like to have my new driveshaft ready when I put it back to stock as my factory one was shortened to install the gear vendor. Does anybody have a bone stock f250,auto, part time 4x4 that could give me a weld to weld measurement on their stock rear driveshaft so I can have my shortened one retubed or possibly a center to center measurement between u- joints. Any help, would greatly be appreciated. Thank you in advance.
Welcome.......Sorry, I just have two manual trans w/ NP205 TC vehicles. Different lengths on the driveshafts than an auto. Use the search function here....I'm sure someone will be along to help you out. Good luck.
You're a few weeks too late. I had 2 of the driveshafts like you need. I gave one away and used the other for parts. I kind of think from weld to weld it was like 53". I needed a driveshaft for a manual so I was measuring tubes. I think a manual was 4" longer.
Yes I will be selling my gear vendor unit. It is low mileage and great shape with installation instructions, manuals and everything else that comes with it. I know how much they are new but have no idea what they are worth used.
There are also two different length tailshafts for the 4x4 version of the C6. My 77½ has the longer length, the C6 I bought from a 79 F150 has the shorter length. I don't remember what they are offhand, but I can try to measure them tomorrow.
Heading to the truck with a tape measure in hand......BRB. 50 1/2" outer weld edge to outer weld edge. Late 77 F250 4x4 351M C-6, married NP-205 all stock set up.
