That too also is in the back of my mind but when I had that problem 2 years ago on the left side it was totally different. That did it when I turned the wheel and didn't make the front shake like it does now. It was more of a grind then a hopping shake. Im waiting till I see my neighbor he's a Ford mechanic but I think he's away hunting. But I still hate to bother him all the time. This should be something I or we can figure out. Maybe I should keep driving It till it really stands out what it is. I'm still thinking hub or cv.
If I understand this thread ( https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/8...then-some.html ) correctly the CV joints shouldn't be turning in 2wd and unlikely to be the problem.
After thinking about your description of the problem it sounds fairly similar to when the rear wheel unit bearing failed on my 05 Expedition, it wasn't as severe but would randomly catch and shake the truck then would be fine for another 20/50 miles. The inside seal had popped out and far as I could figure dirt would randomly cause the bearing to catch? It was tricky to diagnose exactly which wheel it was, virtually no slop in the bearing and it turned reasonably smoothly, granted I only put 120miles on after the first sign of trouble.

I just talked to my neighbor a blend that's what he said, that the cv don't move in 2wd unless the actuator is sticking which he don't think so. He's thinking maybe the caliber is hanging up. He seen some trucks do that with bad shaking on front. Either that or hub bearing which he said they usually make noise and will do it pretty constant. I need to jack it back up when I get time and check that out better. I'm almost 100% positive it's the front the way the steering wheel shakes and the front end.

I didn't really make it clear but I meant that I think it's the front wheel bearing assembly doing the same thing my rear bearing was doing, I have replaced dozens on various vehicles and this was the only one that didn't rumble or make any noise other then when it was catching and shaking.... It could very well still be something else but that is my best guess.
Well my neighbor came over and we jacked it up pulled the wheel off and he took off caliber which had some of the pistin missing and was hung up along with the pads which had pieces missing and which also ruined the rotors. Can't believe the garage didn't see this at inspection 2 months ago. I'm sure this is what's causing my problems. I will let you guys know in a day or 2 if it fixes it. Which I'm sure it will. It makes sense now.
Glad you found it. That would definitely cause a problem. Don't forget you do brake work on both sides of the same axle - you can't just replace the one side.

Yep. I just picked up both sets of rotors, pads, and calibers. Cost was a bit over 300 but it's gonna save me alot money doing it myself, well my neighbor, the ford mechanic will be doing most of the work. That's what neighbors are for, right!!
