Made a Little Progress (Engine, Trans, Headers, Duals)
What headers, looks like the Dynomax Headaches that I tried :-) Looks like you didn't have the fitment problems I had around the steerig box (mine is a larger Bendix unit) and at the transmission linkage (C6). What kind of gaskets did you use?
You got a power steering fluid cooler of sorts? Is that stock?

I am doing a '71now. My plan is to take the power steering cooler and put it in the lower right side of the radiator to get it out of the way. Did you use some kind of locking kit on the bolts of the headers? I have been told the bolts are always comming loose and leaking.

The headers are Hooker Competition with Jet Hot Sterling coating. They fit surprisingly well, did not even have to the frame mounts like the instructions say. The starter is a real PITA though.
Had to twist the PS line a bit for clearance on the front tube, but that was it. They leave tons of room around the C6.
The PS cooler is stock to the best of my knowledge. I have been considering replacing both it and the transmission cooler with some of the units that have their own electric fan, but that is down the road.
I used a Stage 8 brand locking fastener kit and Fel Pro Performance series gaskets. I have not installed the locks on the bolts yet as I wanted to give them, a few heat cycles and a final tightening.

Thanks Guys.
I got an air cleaner from a fellow FTE'er but the top was a bit rough, it looked like someone had cleaned it with DA and 36 grit, so I made a bit of a poor mans "Ram Air" out of it.
If only I could get the outside to look as good as the engine does now. (which is still kind of a 3 footer, but you shoulda seen it when I started.........)

Looking great Robert, thanks for sharing the pictures with us. We all appreciate the pics. How does it sound with the duals? What mufflers did you use?
Made a Little Progress (Engine, Trans, Headers, Duals)
I like the Duals. It "Sounds off" when you get on it, but is tame if you are going easy on it. It has just a hint of "Crack" sound to it at higher RPM, 700-500 rpm before the shift.
I used DynoMax Ultra Flows. There are a few more pictures in the thread titled "muffler".

Thank you again.
Funny you should mention the mirrors, I was in the local Car Quest Parts store and they had some that were identical to mine right down to the three ribs molded into the backs.
Thy just did not say "Rotunda" on them like mine.
IornBelly, It's a 360 for now.......... Pictures make it look nicer than it is, but it is all there and pretty straight for a 32 year old truck.....

Update on headers:
I couldn't get them to stop leaking and pulled the gaskets. Aparently the fel pro gaskets are made in hopes they will work larger heads and they won't seal the tops of the ports. Put the Hooker gaskets in and all is well. (MrGasket ultra seals are same problenm as FelPro) I assume this means that edelbrock heads are not going to work unless I weld a new sealing ring onto the header?
If anyone gets the stage 8 bolts get the 3/4 not the 1 inch as they are much easier to get to tighten up.
Now, looks like an oil pump in my future.................
