I run a ScanGauge in my 1998 Ranger 3.0 4x4 MT, but the '97 and '98 model years don't report speed through the OBD2 connection. Speed data is vital to some of the trip computer functions.
Does anyone know a way to make the speed readable through the OBD2 port on the '98 model with a 3.0? Could it work by simply swapping in a '99 ECU, or reflashing my existing unit? I'm not finding much about this on Google.
Oh, I see, so you know what the problem is.
I would then modify my suggestion from getting a new ScanGauge, to getting a new Ford Ranger that reports speed data.
Problem solved.
