key fob
i didn't get a key fob with my truck when i bought it. i have searched and found the process to program a new key fob, but i also found a thread that indicated if your truck didn't come from the factory with a key fob you may not be able to program one. i would have thought that it would have been packaged with power door locks.
so how can i figure out if it ever had one or not, i do have some information that may or may not be useful (have the original window sticker)
its a 2005 f350
the truck has
power windows
power door locks
power mirrors
is a xlt
preferred equipment pkg .617a (not sure what this means)
not sure what else might help try to figure out if it is set up for a key fob or not.
don't really want to buy a key fob to see if it can be programmed to the truck or not.

Did you get it at a dealer?
If so you might be able to talk them into a quick scan to see
if the option is set in the system or if you have to add it.
If it already set to use a FOB them it easy.
If you can't talk them into it you might just try to get into the
programming sequence. If you can them it likely you can add one.
Here are some how to program links.

I purchased a couple off ebay earlier this year that work like a champ. $15 for a pair. Here is a link to similar ones I purchased, just use their "fit tool" to make sure your truck is compatible.

Can you get the truck to enter the program mode? If not, and from the looks of it, you do not have RKE (remote keyless entry). You CAN NOT just add the key fob or program. The wiring for the RKE is totally different that the wiring for the NON RKE system. I added an aftermarket system to my 2003, less than $50 and that includes 2 remotes. Another option is adding a remote start system. This would give you RKE and remote start.
The NON RKE system is a type C (reverse polarity) system and the RKE is type B system. - pulse.
A little more info here

If you have the VIN you can look up the options here https://www.etis.ford.com/
Click the vehicle tab, enter VIN and then make sure you click the minor features tab (down arrow) on the far right. If you DO have RKE it will say "with remote keyless entry"

One up side with not having it. You don't have to interface both systems
if you add remote start and entry along with an alarm. Getting to be a needed ite.

i think im just going to leave it be for now. i see some aftermarket systems for just door locks for about 15 bucks.
remote start i could take it or leave it, don't really want a alarm cause ill probably be the only one ever setting it off.
i do like key less entry though. saves issues with door locks freezing, scratches around the key hole ect. i was really hoping to be able to get a fob and program it to the truck
