Went to start the vehicle and nothing , no clicking, interior lights on. I didn't
have much time and needed truck so I jumped it with my car. Started rt. up,
I thought it strange that it spun like crazy with no hesitation. Car battery not
that strong. Started the rest of the day. 2-3 times. Strong battery. Next morning , no start. Had more time so checked battery voltage , 12.4v. Turned on lights while watch meter, dropped to 11.9v. Battery Good. Tried to turn over while watching meter, no drop in voltage. I left the key on and jumped the starter relay and voila! Started rt. up. Started 3-4 times since with
no problem. (normally) Why does it start normally until it sits over night if it's
a bad VR? Something contracting over night but expanding when warmer? Sorry for the book. Is it a bad starter relay?

Reason: wrong part
when you say "jump the relay", you mean jump the starter solenoid ? And when you say is the "starter relay" bad and you asking about the solenoid, or the actual relay ? I think it could be either. Checking out put of the relay to the starter when you crank would be a good test. ......... installing new relay is simple if you have a few extra $$ and want to just go that route
My bad. I went back and partially edited the post. I guess I should have read more. I'm old so the starter relay looks similar to what use to be the voltage regulator. That's how we use to kick the engine over . I think it's probably the relay but can't understand why it works all day but not in the morning. I guess it's worth 20 bucks to find out.
