I do the service on the rest of the rigs around here myself, but wanting to not affect my warranty I chose to play by the rules. It would bother me more if it didn't put a smile on my face every time I drive her.
Doing your own maintenance does not in any way effect your warranty. They charged you $432 for an hours work. Absolutely ridiculous. Don't EVER go back there... unless it's tomorrow to demand an explanation.
Not sure what the air filter is worth, but I just did my fuel filters and engine oil for $200. All parts from Ford at wholesale, though the Motorcraft 5w40 synthetic is still expensive even at wholesale, about $35 for 5 quarts. Fuel filters were cake even the first time. Air filter minder hasn't budged so I'm leaving it alone. I record miles and engine hours every oil change, on the parts receipt. I trust myself much more than somebody trying to bang it out fast as they can.
Seems steep even paying full price at ~48 for 5 quarts (x3) of the synthetic..............
Not even sure how you got to $200 Scott. Rotella T6 X 13 qts $70. Motorcraft filter $14. Motorcraft fuel filters $49. Motorcraft air filter $16. Less than $150 total... and I rounded UP on all prices...
Worse yet is the dealer gets these parts at a lower cost than I did.
Oil filter $30
0W40 oil $159
Air filter $48
Fuel filter $125
But I got my tires over inflated for free so now I have extra air to fill balloons or something 😁.
Will have to go over rig with fine tooth comb tomoro as it scares me what else he may have done incorrectly
Wow that's terrible. Motorcraft oil filter is $14. 0W40 oil doesn't belong in your engine at ALL. 5W40 Rotella full synthetic is $70 for 13 qts. Motorcraft Air filter is $16. Motorcraft fuel filters are $49. These prices can all be found on Amazon or Walmart.

Local dealer usually takes care of me..........pulled the receipt. Oil filter 17.xx, fuel filters 61.58, oil 106.xx. Plus tax.
I price shopped the oil on the net and it was no cheaper, didn't check the other stuff. Retail on the oil filter is 24.xx and fuel filters is 106.xx. Doesn't take much for prices like that to add up!

Scott, I hope you aren't paying retail on anything. Take a trip to Amazon.com and see the prices I posted above. Your dealer isn't "taking care of you" at all...

Only difference between 0W40 and 5W 40 is extreme cold viscosity is better on the 0 so yes up north here it's better if truck sat out in -40 weather on a cold start
I'm up north. 5W40 has started me without issue down to -30.... But really... lets not get caught up in oil weight. Lets get you back to the dealer and call them out on $432 for an hour of labor.
I will be doing my own from now on. Took my 15 to my local dealer for the first oil change as I had a free one. Got it home and had to drain 2l of oil out as it was way over full, about 1.5 inches up the cable. Plus the filter is leaking like a sieve. Had it all day and called me at 3:30 to see if they could keep it overnight as it might not be done. I said no . I dropped it off at 9:00 and need it to head out of town early in the morning. Pretty sad, pretty positive my maintenance care is of allot higher quality than the Ford "experts". Not sure if I should give feedback to them or not, seems like sending food back to the kitchen for special treatment. Doubt if the service will get better by complaining. Prob not getting better either way thou

I was under assumption , because I'm sure that's what service writer said , ugh! that they had to do it but after I watched through the glass at the people "working" on my rig I agree it will be the last time for me too. Thanks guys , wish I had inquired about the fine print before today.
