Turbo Questions

Hello everyone, I have a 1997 f250 extended cab longbed f250 with a E40D. Before any old timers or anything start getting mad at me I just want to say I am a kid and I think the black smoke is cool but I do know how these engines should run and I know whats good and how to take care of them lol. Ok so my truck really isnt very built, but I have baby swamps 146/150cc injectors and a tuner. Runs really good, builds a lot of boost and blows a LOT of smoke lol, only real problem is the transmission cant really keep up with the power, but I treat it right so its still doing ok. My question is how will a d66 turbo work with it? I know I'm kind of asking for tranny problems if I do that but lets not worry about that. My friend with pretty much the same truck has an 88mm turbo and I'm pretty sure its the d66 and it sounds great and gave it a lot more torque, does anybody reccomend anything differant than the d66? I want to know, Will it whistle really loud and will it make the smoke go away? Because I still want it to blow smoke. Thank you

Dude your in a the wrong forum if you like throwing $ out your tail pipe. As for your original question if your tranny is not holding the power the engine is giving you, its wise to invest on a good tranny rebuild with valve body and a good torque converter at least, those two will help tremendously. As for turbos theres no better way than a custom t/4 set up

What other mods do you have ?
You got the basic covered right? Gauges, Intake, exhaust,

D66 is a waste of money, I have one on my original truck so I know. So is throwing money out the tail pipe, they are starting to give tickets for that.

Blowing smoke is very uncool. Concentrate on more air and leas smoke. You will be much cooler to the high school girls that way.

If it were my truck I would be going with a s366. Way better turbo and way more performance. It'll make your buddies d66 look stock lol. If you have any fab skills you could diy.

I guess I just have a little boys turbo! LOL

A far as the D66, its a stock turbo plus a tiny bit. They give it a good sales pitch though.

If your friend has an 88mm turbo, it is NOT a D66! An 88mm turbo is freaking huge!
