They changed it for a few different engines, but where is the explanation? and should it be used on the previous year models....that is what I'm looking for.

So If I bring it to the dealer for and oil change what am I going to get?

I let Ford Fast Lanes change my oil and with my extended warranty I will let Ford worry about it.

I guess Wally World didn't get the memo in my parts of the world. The shelves were stocked with 5W20 and 10W30 Diesel Engine Oil. Once again I picked up 7 quarts of 5W20 and a good ol' FL820S Motorcraft filter. The truck is about 200 miles over due with no time to change the oil and rotate the tires

there are plenty of 6.2's out there that have 100k+ on 5w20 oil so if you continue to use it I don't think you'll have any issues. I'll probably just keep using the 5w20 like always.

Hopefully Ford comes out with some documentation stating 5w30 is ok in older 6.2l trucks. I'll be switching my dads 15' over to 5w30 next time I change the oil but it would be nice to have some documentation from Ford for warranty backup if need be.

I am also curious about the oil difference.. Last Saturday, I had my '15 in for a oil change and ask the Service Manager at Wenatchee Ford why the change. He did not have a answer but said to stick to what is calls for in the "Manual"..

I put in what it calls for, and I don't second guess Ford. I do second guess "my buddies cousins uncle runs bar oil in his Family Truckster and he's never had a problem" stories.

sure I agree, but they changed "what it calls for" on the new trucks.

Do you think they changed something in the engine? I doubt it.

So WHY did they change? Should be a simple question... have they found 5W-30 to be better in the long run.

Curious to know what's behind the change. I just bought a new 2015 F250 with the 6.2L. My personal preference is 5w30.
