Hi I am a new member I greatly appreciate the knowledge that is shared on this site. I need some of that. I am trying to get a 1994 ford f250 5.8 4 wheel drive back on the road after it has been sitting. Rear pump returns fuel to the front tank where the pump doesn't work. I will buy another pump for the front eventually but I would like to bypass the front tank for now by connecting the two lines that go to and from the front pump together by installing a fuel filter between them with the flow going from the return to the feed. Will it work to make the fuel return to the rear tank again like it should or will it build up too much pressure in the lines and cause other problems?
No, if you do that the rear pump will just dump fuel back into the rear tank and you won't have any pressure available at the rail. The pumps are plumbed in parallel. All you need to do is plug the feed and return lines for the front tank and you'll be all set.
Thank you very much for the info and the link. I ordered a new pump on ebay for only 75.00 with free shipping so if it turns out that I got the right one I'll be doing good.
