I have the captains chairs. I would like to upgrade to ultra Leather or leather with heat. To have mine recovered and heated would be about 650 My frames and fabric are good. This is want to not have to
Material 150
Heaters 100
Labor 200/seat.
If I were to hit the JY. What years, models should I look for or would it be better just to redo mine
It really depends on if you can fabricate or weld an adapter.
If so, find a nice seat, make an adapter and bolt it in place.
That would be the cheapest solution, and what I did - I have leather Cadillac seats.
My first adapter was actually just a piece of plywood which bolted the seat and frame together; might not have been right but it was quite sturdy. Replaced it with an actual tubular frame adapter I welded up.
I fit 2nd gen. Explorer seats into mine. Power driver's, not leather or heated, but I can get Wet Okole covers that have heat. I did fab brackets using the old seat sliders, all I had to buy were the seats and a few new bolts. If I could have found Limited or EB seats it would have been nice, but the cloth holds up a lot better, most of the leather seats at the salvage yards are in poor shape. The Explorer seats are the right width, have much better under-thigh support, and better overall comfort than the stock seats. They are, however, thicker in the seat bottom, so headroom can become an issue.

Thanks I look for some explorers next time at the JY
