Only one tailgate latch works
Hey everyone! So I've finally had some time to come out to TN and see my brother, who has my truck. It's been in his possession for 5 or 6 months and I haven't seen it since.
Not much has changed on it but I was using the tailgate today and noticed it only completely latches on the drivers side. The passenger side doesn't click shut however. It looks as though it's not lining up completely. I can't even push directly on that side to secure it. Not really a good thing.
So, how simple is it to adjust the latch portion on the bed, or can you even? I didn't really spend much time looking it as I was pretty darn busy this week. Maybe something is bent, but I wasn't seeing anything that was broken, and the both latches move with the tailgate handle

Mine just needed to be lubed, so I removed the tail gate assy/inspection plate & brushed all the moving joints with a light coating of marine grease, that's been about 10 years ago & all is still working well.

on mine it did the same thing wouldnt latch and looked misaligned,,,,, it turned out the plastic bushing was wore out on the pivot point,,, i got a kit from autozone that had new bushing and the plastic piece for the slanted end too,, took old off put new on lube it up good and gate work like new again..... i got what is called a dorman tailgate hinge kit it was about 14.00 but was worth it,,, the gate latches now and doesnt rattle,,,,
