2016 F-350 Lariat Ultimate with Tail Gate Step: After returning the step inside the tail gate and closing the tail gate, the cap does not sit evenly across the top of the tail gate. As the gate locks, the cap "pops up" on the right side and correspondingly moves down on the left side. Truck was purchased on 11-04-2015 and this defect was not noticed during walk around. As before when I had problems with my 2004 Lariat 6.0, I carried information from this forum to the dealer and they paid attention. Glad to be back. Hoping for an answer.

Hi folks,
I'd recommend making an appointment at your local Ford Dealership to have the cap checked out. How many miles are on your trucks? I'll do some research and see what options are available to help.

Bought the truck two weeks ago today. Mileage:123.7
Scenic Ford, Mount Airy, NC Service wants to see the truck after viewing the photos I left with the salesman. I will try to attach the same three photos, I am sure you find them useful. Going to the Dealer now. I'll let you know what they say.

Thanks for the quick replies, Bosko and Duwop! Reach out to me via PM; I'll get this documented and escalated to your regional customer service managers. When writing, please include your full name, best daytime phone number, VIN, current mileage, and preferred servicing dealership.
I realize your truck is brand new. Have you looked down into the slots for the step inside of your tailgate?.
Somehow I managed to get wood chips inside - and the step was doing the same thing. Once I blew out the chips with compressed air, the step closed properly.
The Dealer's Service Dept. fixed the uneven tail gate cap. The Service Writer advised it was just an "internal adjustment" but he had no details. He advised that a more in depth explanation might be reported on the final work order when I received it in the mail?
BTW, the Service Writer and I checked out two Lariats with the tail gate step. On one the cap was even. On the other the cap was uneven just like mine.
Depending on the number of posts here, Ford might want to think about issuing a customer service adjustment notice.
