OK i have a 88 areostar with a 3.0 seems 2 be an oiling problem drove it the other day and there was a beeping noise coming out of the dash then the lifters started to rattle.i took it home parked it let it set for a wile fired it back up it was qiuet took it around the block and it started up again with the beeping and lifter noise any 1 have any ideas what causing this ?? yea i did check the oil 2 it was fine
Possibly a plugged oil filter or worn oil pump. Sounds as if the oil pressure is dropping off when the engine warms up. Step one is to replace the filter. Step two, have a shop (or yourself) put a gauge on the system to check oil pressure. (The dash unit is not a true gauge, merely a pressure activated switch).
im not sure it comes from the dash but alls i know is it never did it before the oil pressure dropped to nothing, i found out the oil pump went out, it must be a oil pressure warning device
Do you guys have the digital dash? I'd be willing to bet you do. I have one and when one of the gauges is reading too low (oil, ammeter) or too high (oil or temp) the gauge will change from the fuel gauge to the one that is affected and it will beep. To test this out start you vehicle, then very slowly turn the key back....I mean VERY SLOWLY. It will get to the point where the vehicle will shut off but it will think it is still running. Then it will start to beep and switch between gauges to let you know which ones have the problem. Good luck with your problem, and if you ever hear beeping, check your gauges!
