Started by taking off the skid plate, lots of PB Blaster the night before.

 

Took front and rear straps off and supported tank with blocks of wood, damn jack doesn't reach with lift.

 

Lowered tank enough to get fuel lines, fuel fill which was a real pain in the *** to get loose and vent tubes off.

 

Got the tank on the ground, I have no idea why these pictures are smaller???

 

Dragged that sucker out and pulled the assembly from the tank.





Inside assembly is the friggin trouble maker.





Just replaced the pump( busted one shown) and the strainers, could replace entire assembly but didn't wanna spend the extra money since everything else worked.





Slapped it all back in the tank with a new gasket and ready to reinstall





Back on the block of wood and up into position to reinstall the fuel lines, fuel fill and vents. Then all the way up to reinstall the front and rear straps.

 

As soon as I feel like I'll get around to putting the skid plate back on, but for today I'm done.

 

Reason #1 to install a flatbed with wooden planks! Just take out a couple of boards and pop the FP out...

 

Did the pump go out after you filled it up? Seems like that's when it usually happens....

A couple of times it just wouldn't start right away and then it just all together quit in my driveway, at least I didn't have to tow it.

 

I have found that a pair of cambuckle straps is much easier to deal with than a jack especially when working on gravel. Even if the tank is full, it is no problem to gradually lower it just enough to get everything disconnected and then finally lower it all the way to the ground. The cambuckle mechanism is much easier to deal with in this application than a ratchet strap.

 

Funny, I've used those a bunch of times to hold stuff down but never thought to use them to let stuff down.
