Wiring harness inquiry
I have a 1989 F259 XLT Lariat 5.8/ZF5 4X4. I have ghosts in my wiring and I am looking for an entire replacement harness from the fire-wall forward. Does anyone know of a company that will build them or do I have to get a quick wire and build it myself? Hey Subford: if you're still out there I could stand to pick your brain a bit.

Paul, you are pretty well on your own with this one. Unless you are looking for a generic harness to use in a new custom or highly modified build you will need to just chase down the copper gremlins and eliminate them by replacing the affected wires. Your post does not indicate the reason for your need so we can only surmise you just have some open wires and not a larger fire or circuit overload induced problem. Opening a harness is not such a bad process. Just be sure to mark or tag the locations of the takeouts that feed the various branch circuit accessories.
When it is time to re-wrap the harness I recommend you use tape specifically designed for the purpose rather than standard adhesive electrical tape.
Parenthetically, as you are working your way through this project and are tempted to just buy a new or newer truck remember they will be even more subject to such failures as manufacturers have used finer strands and lighter gauge wire in later models.
