I've removed plenty of pickup beds, never on a Ford DRW, but lots of others. Should be pretty straight forward. Remove the lights and disconnect the wires, remove the fuel door and any hardware attaching the filler neck to the bed, remove the tailgate, depending on how comfortable you are with your ability to lift the bed straight you may want to remove the rear bumper. Then it's pretty much just unbolt and remove.
What kind of lifting equipment do you have? I've used everything from overhead cranes, to gantry cranes, forklifts, and tractors. The way you rig up your lifting slings is very important for level lifting and sway control to avoid damage to the bed and truck. It's also important that the person operating your lift equipment is comfortable with it. Alternatively, six strong backs can perform the lift in a very controlled manor and get the job done. Just be prepared to provide beverages after the job is done.
Thanks for the reply. Will be doing it in the driveway, so I was thinking more along the lines of 6 or so people.. I do also have an "cherry picker' engine hoist, so maybe a combination.
I doubt the cherry picker will go high enough or reach far enough to be of any use. But, six people should be able to get it with no problem if they are all reasonably strong and can lift it high enough. I also forgot to mention that you need to double check for ground straps between the box and frame from under the truck. It will also probably give you some extra working room from underneath if you remove the spare tire. Take your time and it should be a pretty simple job. Good luck, and post back how it goes!

I just did mine back in June. Disconnect the tail light wiring behind the bumper, remove six bed bolts, disconnect fuel filler at bedside via 3 screws. Lift bed off. I've done it with three people before.
Why are you swapping the bed and where did you get the new one from? How much was it if you don't mind me asking. I've been looking on car-part.com
My box side is damaged from me backing up further than a concrete post would permit. I can get a NTO bumper local but haven't found a box nearby. If I could find a silver over gray then I wouldn't need to repaint.

Like Chuck said, they are out there.. Most are Oxford White though (lucky for me!) I see you are somewhat local to me. Probably the best place to get one is from the guy in Buford. His name is Glenn, and here is his sight RUST-FREE SOUTHERN TRUCK BEDS & PARTS | SPECIALIZING IN F-250
I have been out to his place, and he probably has 20-25 new dually take offs. He does have a few colors too, so you may get lucky. He sells them for $2500 CAD with no tailgate.
I actually found mine on kijiji which is fine if you want to wait for a deal to pop up, other wise, like I said Glenn has them in stock.
oh and I am just replacing mine to clean up the truck.. Selling mine for 1300, no damage, just abuse. A guy is coming shortly though, so pretty sure it is sold..
Pretty much what others have said. I had to replace mine recently because my old bed was some utility box.
Bolts, wires, tailgate, bumper, fuel fill. That's it. Oh, and a few cold ones for all the guys you bring in to help you lift the sucker off. Reverse for reinstallation. It's truly one of the EASIER repairs you can do, regardless of how daughnting it looks.
