I'm pretty sure mine is a 33" and it works better than the 30" would have. The extra extension into the engine compartment gives the linkage more of an angle to bypass the headers. I'm not sure a 30" column would have allowed the linkage to clear. My truck is a '53.
I have a 56 and used a 30" Ididit, although I could have gone with a longer one. I think it's more dependant upon
what you're using for exhaust and steering than anything else. I'm running a Coyote engine with stock shorty headers
and a power rack setup that came with the TCI MII front end, the steering lines up nicely. If I had gone longer, I could
have stayed a bit farther from the headers, but would still line up. Be careful what column you use, there's been a bunch of
