Electrical nightmare help
Ok my problem started about a year ago I have a 2004 e350 superduty
Very itermitanlly you would turn the key and there would be power in the truck but the ignition would be dead however if I banged hard but not to hard on the bottom of the steering wheel you could here an electrical connection being made as you would turn the key and it would start and always stay running it has never died after it was started
Sometimes this does not work and I have to jump the starter out from the selonoid and this works everytime
First thing I did was change the lock cylinder and that wasn't it
I figured it had to be something in the colum so I replaced the entire colum and steering wheel with a used one
NOW SAME PROBLEM
I put a new ignition switch in
No luck
The problem is definitely worse when it's cold outside and the l.c d readouts on the radio get blurt from time to time(I no I'm reaching now)
I find it highly unlikely the new colum has the exact same issue as when I started with the old one
Why when it cold out could it be worse ???
It does have a remote start that died years ago but what am I jarring by hitting the bottom of the steering wheel ???
Why does it start 20 time in row then this problem occurs??
Please any help or even an idea would be greatly appreciated
check the column to main under dash connectors.
unplug and look HARD at each connector pin... for burnt or discolor.. both male and female ones...
took me 2 months to find 1 bad one on wife car.. for headlights.
