those darn electrical gremlins

Something strange has been going on with my 85 f-250 lately. When I first start the truck (or just turn the key on) the clock, radio, and fuel gauge don't do anything. But if I wack the steering wheel, everything comes to life.

Before this problem reared it's head, the other thing that was happening was that the radio would turn on, but it acted as if the antenna was unplugged. The old "wack the steering wheel" procedure fixed that each time...... Anyone ran into this goofy problem?....

Sounds like a loose connection relating to your ignition switch...

Does it work EVERY time when you hit the steering wheel?

I'd be afraid that you're somewhere someday and it affects the ignition, and your truck won't start...

That's very possible. As a matter of fact, I just had to adjust the switch on the column the other day because it had slipped back on the column and the key wasn't returning when you started the truck. I'll check it out today... Thanks
