Hello everyone!
I'm in the market for a triple axle trailer around 40' but have not been interested in a 5th wheel setup because I want a truck camper in the bed when I'm pulling. However, I'm finding it quite hard to get a 40' trailer in a conventional setup, so I'm looking at gooseneck trailers.
The tow vehicle will to be an F550 of some type. Still haven't picked one yet. I do know I am buying it with 10 lug axles and manual 4x4. I'll also likely get a lift and depending how wild I feel I wanna budget myself, maybe an extra 2 doors added and some 40 inch tires.
Any how, does anyone have experience, opinions, ideas, about any of the things I've mentioned?
I think I get it, maybe. First choiceis a bumper pull so he can use the bed for a slide-in camper. Second choice is some kind of adapter to allow gooseneck or fifth wheel hitch to attach like a bumper pull.
My suggestion is to keep looking for the bumper pull trailer you really want. Any adapter, if it exists, will be a poor compromise.
If you put this in your search engine "pull a goosenack trailer like a bumper pull trailer" you will find pictures of a small trailer that pulls like a bumper pull and accepts a gooseneck. Never actually seen one in the field, but they have been around for years. Strange looking isn't it?
This sounds like a similar setup the double/triple trailer combos you see on the interstate. Not sure where one would look to find one for a pickup.
They are not hard to find on the Internet, though not common on the highways and byways. I think there was even one in one of my distributor's catalogs.
Yeah , sorry. I am preferring a bumper pull but am find it hard to find in the size I want. I need a trailer that can fit an Expedition EL, Ranger regular cab, sports bike, and a few go karts and a small tractor or side by side. So, a huge trailer meant for safe moving of my toys to race tracks and camping spots nationwide.
But I need a slide-in in the bed. So I was wondering if anyone had tried the bumper to 5th wheel adapter.
From what I remember reading about them in the past since they attach at 3 points to the tow vehicle and DO NOT articulate they are considered an extension of the tow rig not a trailer. Same idea as those swivel wheel "trailers" that can go on the back of a TT or fiver, has multiple attachment points and doesn't articulate so "not a trailer".
All that is well and good but since most trailer folk don't know the answer I think expectations and sympathy from Johnny Law would be pretty low on the side of the road............
