I just received my positive battey cable replacement from the place that begins with an L and ends with a C. The cable is black!! Shouldn't a positive cable be red to be technically correct?
Battery cables are available from local auto parts stores in the correct colors. You can see what you are getting and the price with tax is about the same as the "other" price with shipping, plus you get it "right now". While the factory may have put on a black cable I always use red for positive cables.
For the newer cars with all of those extra wires from the terminals that are impossible to find in the right configuration... -I make my own, they work better and last longer!
You guys probably wouldn't like my '77 as the positive cable is black and the replacement ground cable is red. I just haven't gotten around to painting it black to match. You should see the nervous looks I get when I have to jump start someone.
