1952 F5 decision time

[QUOTE=00explorerblues;15777490]I like the look of one slammed but I am reconsidering that due to the drivability. I am going to make it as user friendly as possible so it can be more of a daily driver for me. I have a garage baby already and am thinking I might go ahead and throw some paint on it. Possibly a flat black for the rod look with some nice wheels.

These trucks sit high stock. There is little downside to dropping them a few inches. Try to take it to the extreme and the problems rear their head. Bad suspesion geometry, bottoming out andd wrecking parts etc. There are plenty of folks here that know about where that "line" is you shouldn't cross on a driver. Ben's truck looks like a nice compromise.
As far as flat black, it sounds maintenance free doesn't it? I did it on a car once. It will look very nice for a few weeks or months. Once the sun gets to it the beauty fades quickly to a chalky oxidized finish. It will water spot and just look dirty after that. A wash won't fix it. There isn't much you can do with it except sand and repaint. Read posts on the popular hotrod forums before you do it.

Good to know. I was discussing paint today and was told to skip the flat also. I am leaning to charcoal with gloss black trim....that is a long way away. Ben, nice truck and I like the way it sits. I got my F5 home today and got to get a better look. I can't believe how thick the frame is.
