Names Cody. I live in IN. I go to Purdue University and am 20yrs old. My dad has a 1950 f1 in which we've been building a rod outa of it for the last 13 years and has bunches done to it, but still lots left to go. Well, he recently bought a parts truck... a 49 F-4 with 8bA flatty, manny tranny (not sure what it is), no bed, and good body.
Well, short story is he is going to swap cabs (his is good, just not as good as the f4) and give me his cab, a new bed we've never used and the motor/tranny outta the F4. I was gonna build a lil rat rod, but after looking around on a few sites, I decided that I'm gonna just build the f-4.
The f-4 is a dually truck. My plans are to put on my cab, build a wooden flat bed for it (maybe staked), try to find to new wheels for as I believe I have the "man killers" (i think), new meats, and get this thing on the road. My plans for this puppy is to be my car show truck, parts hauler, and work truck in the summer time (I mow lawns).
Just figured i'd stop in, as i'll prob. be on here often asking questing that my pap cant answer. Thanks for any future advice
-Cody

Welcome, Cody. You came to the right place. Lots of smart people around here with great ideas and really quick response times. Good luck with your truck - and post some pictures when you get a chance.
I posted an reply to your tire question before seeing this post. It's good to see another big truck guy here, especially a F-4. I have a '48/51 F-4 project in progress. I am glad you're keeping it close to stock, too many guys are chopping them into smaller trucks. If you have any questions about your truck this is the place.
thanks man... I really wanna get this thing on the road. I like the look of the big trucks, but as you know, the whole wheel aspect is kicking me in the behind. Oh, well... only time will tell. I've got plenty of that. I've got a 78 gmc and 86 mustang also that im planning on selling to fund this project. Im getting married soon, so I need to get rid of vehicles anyhow, cant afford insurance.
