I just acquired a 97 f250 HD with a 7.3 turbo and it has a fuel leak in the motor somewhere. When you shut it off it drips a small spot of fuel. I climbed up and lookes down in the top of the motor and there is fuel puddled up on the intake. Any ideas on what I should look for? I haven't had a chance to really look into it. This is my first diesel. I thought I'd check with you all and see if there was a common weak link.
Go to the diesel forums alot more help over there:-X2 the only things that can leak fuel in the valley of death, are fuel bowl, fuel pump and fuel lines. Check this areas first
They are also known for leaking oil from the turbo pedestal and it puddles up in the valley too. Wouldn't hurt to check that too while you are looking around in there.
Let me know if you want me to move this to either the obs or the 7.3 section(best option).
I have replaced the O-rings that seals the fuel drain to the fuel bowl on several 7.3's. It seems the new low sulfur fuel does not work with the original O-rings. Just another place to look.
