TPMS question

I have a 2013 F250 sd crew auto 4x4 6.2 XL. Had steel wheels and I just purchased tires and wheels from a 2015 F250 platinum. I have driven them for the last few days no problem. Today I get a tire pressure sensor fault on my display. I did a little research and found the info on how to train the sensors. Do both trucks use the same sensors? If so, I assume I can do the training thing and all should be well. my 2013 only has 14k miles and the tires/wheels from the 2015 had maybe 20 miles on them. Thanks for any help.

The training should be the same. I'd use the 2013 manual and follow the steps outlined in there.

Are you sure the new tires have the sensors still installed?

Good question NYCruiser. The guy drove from the dealership to the shop where he had it lifted and new tires and wheels. I wonder if they snagged the sensors for the new wheels...I would think that it would have had the the fault reading right away, not after driving stop and go for a few days... So that brings up another question; can I shut down the TPMS?

If you find a way to shut it down let me know. I don't think so.

I don't have high grades for the TPMS in these trucks. With my 2011 F250, I would install winter wheels w/out sensors for many months. I bet I only got a TPMS warning a half dozen times all winter, and it would only last a day or less.

Just bought a 2014 F350, and I installed winter wheels on it w/out sensors this past Sat. Still no TPMS warning. I don't think the system monitors all that well, but that isn't really a bother to me. No warning is a lot better than a nagging false warning.

I think I'll play the wait and see game. I don't know how we managed all these years without our vehicles telling us if our tires were low....

Agreed. Next thing, they'll be making cars that drive themselves!
