TPMS warning

Had my TPMS warning go off yesterday on the road 400 miles from home. Checked all the tires, all within spec and continued on. But started to wonder if the spare tire also has a TPMS unit and it could be the spare fell below the threshold. I have not checked it yet, but figured I would ask here if anyone knows if the spare also has TPMS.
Thanks.
Pat

Spare should not have one. Sometimes what the tire wants and what the system wants is do different things. Suggest looking at the manual and see what it says, and maybe trying a different gauge. Otherwise maybe you have a faulty system or a slow leak.

If you got a 15, I wouldn't do to much effort id take it to the dealer and be done

when you say within spec, what were the actual readings? 60 on the rear's is approaching notification time unless you have had the dealer reprogram the tpms for something lower than 80psi

That sounds good. One thing, did you have your tires rotated recently? if so, maybe a TPMS retrain is in order to get the fronts to the front on the sensors?

Do you have any kind of charger for a cell phone in your truck? Or 12vdc charger for any other items? They have been known to cause TPMS warnings.

No tire rotation, that is on my list of things to do, along with fuel filters.
Didn't have any cell phone chargers plugged in at the time either.
Thanks for helping.

Are you getting a low pressure warning or the TPMS fault? Every so often, on long trips my 2015 will throw the TPMS fault in the center dash. I can see on my torque pro app that the problem is with my LR sensor, it loses communication for some reason. After about 15 minutes of driving, the warning light goes away and the pressure starts updating again. It hasn't annoyed me enough to warrant a trip to the dealer yet.

I am getting a low pressure warning, not a TPMS fault.
I will schedule a service visit before my next trip North.

Same thing happens with my 2011. Dealer can't find anything wrong with it. Only happened three times returning from Florida in March. Someone here explained that some electronics gear in the cab may have caused the break in communication. I've accepted that, as there were three other guys with phones and chargers and lord knows what else on board. Hasn't happened since.

Edit: Here's my thread I started back then: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...sor-fault.html

It was a sensor fault, not low pressure warning.

I remember your thread and made sure that no accessories were plugged in. But come to think of it, there is a memory stick plugged in with music on it that was not playing since I have Sirius right now. I will try unplugging it and see if the warning goes away, if not to the dealer it goes in the next week or so. It won't be heading over the Mtns to Pheasant and Chukar hunt for 2 weeks.

Keep us posted, Pat. If you decide to get this into the hands of your dealer, let me know so I can help out. How many miles are on the truck currently?

Great, Pat; thanks for letting me know. If you'd like, I can go ahead and loop in your regional customer service manager. PM over your details, including your full name, best daytime phone number, VIN, current mileage, and servicing dealership; I'll take it from there.

Since you're still under warranty I'd have the dealer look at it.

I had a similar problem when I had my tires rotated. The tires are 80 and 65 psi. If they don't re-learn the location then the alarm with go off. simply the sensor sends out the pressure and Sensor ID, the Trucks modules are programmed with the rest.
I had the dealer set all the tire pressures to 65 so when not towing I have 65 in all the tires to smooth out the ride.

FYI: I also monitor my tire pressure with Torque Pro and driving 15 minues can easily increase your air pressure 5 plus pounds.
