another chip question ?
More looking at what we should be getting over here in Aus , being for service and back-up as we are to far away from all the main players .
Mainly only doing light towing with performance
With the chip to be done , do I need to be doing any to the auto , it was only just replaced prior to me getting it with a hd one that was overhauled .
I see you can get kits and stuff for them , just don't know where to start on this thing .
Do these take kindly to having the exhaust opened up , if so , what bits need to make it happen ?
Sorry for the questions , just new to the f-truck thing
Cheers

Once you have been through those you will be in a position to ask some more detailed questions.
As for chips and tuners I have not gotten that far with mine yet.
Hopefully someone with more hands on experience will answer your question.
Maybe a WW2 or RiffRaff's billet wheel to deal with any surge problems you may have.
Riffraff Diesel Billet Compressor Wheel 94-03
You can open the exhaust up with a good 4'' pipe and muffler or you could run a straight through if you can stand the noise.
A good clean intake will help the cause as well, here's an easy one to in stall.
Riffraff Diesel 6637 Ford 7.3L Powerstroke Intake Filter Kit, i used this one , it not an oiled filter.
After you've done all this you can start looking at programmers or chips for your needs.

What weight will you be towing?
coming from a nice set up in the form of the 76 series cruiser , i'm still trying to get used to the f250
to be honest still contemplating whether i keep the cruiser and sell the f truck before i put to much into it or bite the bullet and keep the f
still getting used to the fact of not really being able to park anywhere , that's probably the main thing
like the auto , and the torque , its comfortable and its a ute and dual-cab for the kids
not really going to towing anything real heavy , really 1-1.5 tonne max , just have a tandem work trailer and sometimes a tandem car trailer with a buggy on it once a month

Not the ideal vehicle for doing he weekly grocery shopping.
I kept my 80 series maainly for that reason, the Ford is for hauling my caravan.
You will get used to the size of the thing fairly quickly though.

but if I was to do it again I would get one that is closed in. Here is a good place to start

Exhaust, well depends on how much work you want to do. You can get a kit from the U.S. or try to get someone here to make it. The way the dollar is atm a local guy might end up cheaper. Then you have to decide whether you go for a 3.5 " downpipe or 4" all the way. If you aint a complete hoon head like me I would say a 3.5" would suffice.
Now tuners, well there are plenty. Like I said I would go for one that uses the screen so you can save on gauges. The main thing is to deal with someone that is willing to email tunes and the tuner you get allow you to download them. I have the TS chip which does that but you also have to have a burner (around $300) to change the files. Speak to Clay.
